How do I extract columns from a CSV file?
Exports often contain dozens of fields when an import, report, or colleague needs only a few. Deleting columns manually is slow and can accidentally reorder rows or alter identifiers.
What this tool changes
- Copies only the columns you select into a new CSV.
- Uses explicit column positions even when headings are duplicated.
- Preserves the original data-row order and current delimiter.
What it leaves alone
- Cell values are not trimmed, reformatted, deduplicated, or type-converted.
- Rows are not filtered or sorted.
- The original wide CSV remains unchanged.
How it works
Choose by heading. Each checkbox includes its column number so blank or repeated headings remain unambiguous.
Row order is preserved. The extractor copies cells across each row without sorting or filtering records.
Missing cells stay empty. If a short row lacks a selected column, the output contains an empty cell instead of shifting data.
Processed locally. The file stays on your device. Filenames, rows, cells, and worksheet names are never sent to us or analytics.
